Holocaust Education Project 2012
In 2012, I was fortunate to have received a study grant to take part in a three week education program for Australian educators at Yad Vashem in Israel. Over the course of the three weeks I met Holocaust survivors, including Hannah Pick, a childhood friend of Anne Frank, saw some amazing sites and gained a thorough understanding of the Jewish faith, the Holocaust and the history of antisemitism - from past to present. This experience was life changing and left an indelible mark on me as a teacher and a human being. Part of the requirements of the course were to complete a introductory online course on the history of antisemitism and upon return, create an education project. This project was designed to showcase the knowledge learned throughout the Israel trip and educate future learners of the Holocaust.
I chose to create a webquest to accompany the novel, 'Lolli's Apple' by Tomas Fleischmann to assist English teachers when teaching the novel. That said,it is structured in a way that it could easily be incorporated into the new Australian Curriculum at Year 10, or in the Social Life area of study in Unit 1 20th Century History.
I have uploaded a .pdf version of the task, but I also have a keynote version for the iPad, please email if you would like the keynote.
