Boy Overboard Teaching Resources
At my school, all Year 7 students have iPads, so these resources are created specifically with the iPad in mind. With a bit of tweaking, they could easily be adapted for all. In most cases I create worksheets on my PC and then save these as PDF files, so that they can be read on the iPad using an app such as GoodReader.
Understanding VocabularyThis activity asks students to define key words, then find the matching image. This task was designed for use with iPads, where students are able to define the key words within the Keynote app, so the instructions reflect this. However, in order to upload to this site I have uploaded a .ppt file. If you would like the Keynote version please email me.
Boy Overboard Reading BookletThis booklet is to be given prior to reading the novel and students are to complete it while they are reading. The purpose is to get students thinking and connecting ideas as they read.

Research TaskTo begin students needed to better understand the setting of the story. In this case the story is set in Afghanistan. Students were asked to gather information on three topics from range of carefully selected websites. These websites were collated on to a Pinterest board for students to access. Students then had to present their information on a poster using the Pic Collage app.
